What are the reasons we admire celebrities or other public figures?

What are the reasons we admire celebrities or other public figures? Do we need heroes in this day and age? What heroes exist today? What admirable qualities does this person/people have?

    I only admire their talent but don’t admire them as a person because how can i admire someone that i don’t really know.
    What they are in public is not what they really are.
